As soon as I had finished creating Bjs Hand-cranked-Socks I sent it off to friends to look over, And with all their help I have corrected spelling and grammar and added more pictures in a slide show to my Socks page. If I don't say so myself things are looking very nice - Later this week I need to learn about getting the site to the search engines- at present it is only the people I tell about it that can find it but....with a little luck by next week it should show up in Google.
Speaking of friends , I sure fell down the right chimney when I moved into this neighborhood. Terre and Mike who live across the street have taken me under their wings, and I am grateful everyday for there caring and support. It is Mike who is my star today. My Wee Woolie socks have a lot of elastic in them and need to be stretched and blocked after washing. I had purchased a pair of small sock blockers but being that they were rather expensive . I tried to use them as a pattern for cardboard ones. However the cardboard gets wet and it did not take long till they were too flimsy to work. Along came Mike and he cut and sanded 10 wooden pair for me. What a guy!!!! -Bj Well I finally did it only about 2 years after I promised myself I would , but whose counting. It was not until I moved to Tucson that I realized I either had to up my sock prices to cover flying North to colder climates to peddle my sock or sell on line. I could I suppose buy less yarn and and make fewer sock but that is like a drinker telling you he is going to cut back.
I get so excited with the Spring yarn clearances - who could resist 30 - 50 percent off - Or I love the the more you buy the bigger the discount (just look at how much money I saved) - Ah well I suspect everyone has their little addictions.(chocolate, paperback romances, shoes?). It is a constant battle to fight the urge- I am determined to be strong. I have to admit that I am at times very weak - I can not allow myself in a yarn shop. I lose all control. I can fight the urge to own all the yarn I see if it is just a picture but if I get to hold it in my hands - I am lost. -bj |
